Second Half of the Final Week

Wednesday 28th Today we had a lazy relaxing day. After breakfast on the balcony we took the bus to Typhoon Lagoon. We put on our swimming gear walked over to the Lazy River, climbed into our “dinghies” and just floated around. We did four circuits before climbing out. The environment isn’t conducive to cameras etc but I’ve looked on YouTube and is some footage that shows just how relaxing this is. Once out we dried in the hot sun then changed and left the park. We had to change buses at Disney Springs so we took advantage of the situation and wandered around buying a few more things. When done we boarded the bus back to the billet. Here we sat and enjoyed the tranquility of our balcony until it was time to go downstairs to the Boom restaurant within the complex. Here we had another lovely meal accompanied by a glass of champagne each compliments of Disney because the waitress noticed the badges we were wearing. We left the restaurant and returned to the balcony to watch the sun go down....

Back on dry land

Saturday 23 April We climbed out of bed at 06:00, this was a struggle as we’d forgotten there were two six o’clocks in a day. The bulk of our luggage had already been collected so with just our hand luggage each went for breakfast. After we’d eaten we disembarked the ship collected our luggage and cleared customs and immigration. We then climbed aboard a Disney Cruise line bus that took us to the next stage of our holiday at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It’s a magnificent place and you really feel you are in Africa. We checked in and we’re allowed to go directly to our room. Talk about wow factor, it is absolutely stunning with a balcony upon which you can sit and overlook the “savanna” we were mesmerised just watching the zebras, giraffes and various species of antelope wander around. We hadn’t booked a meal so we bought some sandwiches and just sat and watched. Sunday 24th April  We awoke to the beautiful view and had breakfast on the balcony. We then took the courtesy bus to EPCOT and ...
Cruise  Thursday 21st April  I’m sorry you got a repeat of the first part of the cruise in the second part of the blog but we’re having a such a great time so editing issues aren’t at the front of my mind. After we left the Virgin Islands we sailed into the sunset and when it was dark we had a magnificent firework display at sea. The next day was a day at sea and it was such lovely calm day so we decided to have go on the AquaDuck ride.    It is simply sitting on a dinghy and then you go around the ship in a tube propelled by the water. Apparently there is YouTube footage to illustrate what I mean. It was great fun Val thoroughly enjoyed it. The most interesting part for us was getting in and out of the dinghy. I’m sure it provided some good entertainment to the onlookers. Who cares we are on holiday. Being at sea it was a relaxing day but really hit us in that this beautiful highlight of our holiday is coming to an end and with a run ashore tomorrow we knew we we ne...

Phase Two The Cruise

Disney Cruise  Saturday 16th April We were up early for our luggage was being collected so as to be transferred to the ship, as we were ready when the bus boy came to collect our luggage we blagged a lift with him. We arrived at reception and was happy to see a member of Disney cruise staff present. We approached her and was so pleased to hear her say to us “you’re good to go.” We had time for breakfast then the coach came to transfer us to Port Canaveral. We arrived at the docks and saw the ship it looked absolutely massive. We debussed and had to take a Covid test which was fortunately negative so we we allowed to board. As we reached to top of the gang plank our name was called out and we were greeted with applause from Mickey, Minnie    and some of the crew. Our first job was to locate our muster station and log our visit in on the app. We then had lunch then we were allowed to go to our cabin. We located it and when we entered we discovered lovely gifts from our fami...

Caribbean Beach Resort

Blog 11th -15th April Put it down to jet lag but I noticed the last blog was dated 11/4/22 which was actually the date it was posted but it actually refers to what happened on the 10th. Here goes w it’s the remainder of our stay at the Caribbean Beach resort. Monday 11th Today we ventured to the Magic Kingdom using the shuttle bus from the resort. Once in the resort we had lunch and walked round to Adventureland and had go on Big Thunder Mountain from there we went to Splash Mountain both quite adventurous for us. The latter ride caused us to get a little wet but the heat of the day soon dried us off. s we came off this ride so a parade passed through which we stood, watched and photographed. We were advised to go on the the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as it is sedate. Who were they kidding! After the ride we went to the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. We left the restaurant with a view to retuning to the billet but as we walked  we back we came across the Chrystal Glass sto...
Monday 11th April 2020 The Caribbean Beach resort is vast and after our long and harrowing day we were driven down to our billet, it is superb, comfortable beds and beverage making facilities. We went to bed not knowing how the jet lag would effect us but we actually both slept long and well. We walked to the bus stop and asked the driver if he was going to the reception he said it wasn’t part of his route but as we were the only passengers he would take us there, which he did. At the reception we clarified a few things that our jet lagged puddled brains didn’t absorb the night before then we took the bus to the Magic Kingdom. We arrived just in time for the parade which as always was magnificent. After the crowd dispersed we discovered the jewellers so we went in there. Bill bought Val her Disney Pandora bracelet as her belated Golden Wedding gift and Val bought Bill a Mickey Mouse watch. Val also purchased some extra charm compliments of our two children. Unfortunately Bill’s watch ...

Outbound journey

Blog day 1 Friday 8th April 2022. Our son, Steve, picked us up at the allotted time and drove us to Thorne Hill park and ride from where we were to catch the Airline coach to Gatwick. It arrived a little bit late but we were in plenty of time then we noticed it was going to Heathrow then onto Gatwick. As we had pre booked tickets we assumed we were ok, then the driver announced he only had room for one passenger. So much for pre-booking. The driver contacted his base then informed us that we were to take the next Heathrow bus and he would arrange with National Express to take us onwards to Gatwick. Whilst this was our only option we weren’t very happy as we had an appointment with the Covid test centre and I was meeting someone for the first time in almost sixty years. The Heathrow bus arrived and we boarded. We arrived at the airport’s bus station but no sign of the 210 National Express to Gatwick. We spoke to a member of staff and explained our situation and she said to leave it wit...

Test

2105 Zulu 5/4/2022. We are currently getting ready for our forthcoming Disney trip and I decided to make sure my Blogg account was still active and found it wasn’t. As it has been such a long time time since I last used it all passwords etc had been forgotten. I played about on the iPad and think I might have cracked it but the only way I can prove it is to write something like this and publish. Hopefully it’ll be there and if there is a blog of our 2022 Disney trip will appear (Coronavirus allowing)
