Cruise
Thursday 21st April
I’m sorry you got a repeat of the first part of the cruise in the second part of the blog but we’re having a such a great time so editing issues aren’t at the front of my mind. After we left the Virgin Islands we sailed into the sunset and when it was dark we had a magnificent firework display at sea. The next day was a day at sea and it was such lovely calm day so we decided to have go on the AquaDuck ride. It is simply sitting on a dinghy and then you go around the ship in a tube propelled by the water. Apparently there is YouTube footage to illustrate what I mean. It was great fun Val thoroughly enjoyed it. The most interesting part for us was getting in and out of the dinghy. I’m sure it provided some good entertainment to the onlookers. Who cares we are on holiday. Being at sea it was a relaxing day but really hit us in that this beautiful highlight of our holiday is coming to an end and with a run ashore tomorrow we knew we we needed to take time out and pack. We also took advantage of the dhobi facilities on offer so sent some bits to to dhobi Whallas so it will be ready to pack when we finally disembark. The meal dress code was semi formal so I entered the spirit of it and wore collar and tie, Mickey Mouse one of course. After dinner we went to the theatre and watched a production of Frozen. It was absolutely fantastic. We had a few more character photos then turned in.
Friday 22nd April
Our last full day aboard.we woke to find ourselves at Disney’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. We had to wait for goods to be off loaded then the Tannoy announced “All ashore that’s going ashore!’ So we made our way down to deck 1 and disembarked. It was about half a mile walk to where the retails outlets and other attractions were but we took our time. We did our shopping then sat and soaked up some sun. Before we knew it, it was lunch time. This was a barbecue laid on by Disney. It was Fantastic. There was some calypso music and a local lass was dancing to it. I was in such a carefree mood I went and joined her much to the amusement and entertainment of everyone else. Before we knew it it was time to rejoin the ship. There was a tram back much to Val’s relief. We returned to our cabin with a cold drink. It became necessary to pack. We got our main cases packed so that we can leave them outside ready for collection. This we did then went for dinner. On the table was paper and pen and we were asked to draw a person, when we’d done it the waiter took them from us, we had no idea what was happening then later in the evening the screen lit up with a story similar to the sorcerer’s apprentice where all the figures the diners had drawn were animated. Very clever. We had our meal then went to the theatre for a show called Disney’s I Believe. It was a fantastic show which though had a story line was a medley of show songs performed by the relevant characters. After the show. We then spent some time calling on the crew who made our trip so memorable. We had an early start so we turned in.
Saturday 23rd April
Up at 06:00 packed the final bits and made our way to breakfast, after we’d eaten we disembarked the ship, cleared customs and passport control and took the Disney Cruise Line bus to our next resort, Animal Kingdom..
